Botulinum toxin injections, commonly referred to as anti-wrinkle treatments, are a non-surgical solution designed to smooth dynamic wrinkles caused by repeated facial expressions. Using the premium brand Nuceiva, a highly purified botulinum toxin type A, these treatments temporarily relax targeted muscles to soften fine lines, reduce wrinkles, and prevent new ones from forming. What To Expect During Treatment:
- Consultation: Each session begins with a personalised consultation to understand your goals and assess the areas requiring treatment.
- Procedure: The procedure involves the precise injection of Nuceiva into the targeted muscles using a very fine needle. The process is quick, typically lasting 15–30 minutes, with minimal discomfort. A full assessment of your facial muscles will be carried out prior to treatment and your individual requirements and preferences will be taken into consideration.
- Review: The first time you have anti-wrinkle treatment, I will make a review appointment for you around 7 days following your initial treatment. This appointment gives us the opportunity to asses your results and add more product if needed. This review is not always necessary if you are content with your results.
Downtime:
Nuceiva treatments have no significant downtime. You may experience mild redness, swelling, or tenderness at the injection site, which typically subsides within a few hours.

Who Can Get Botulinum Toxin Injections?
Botulinum toxin is suitable for healthy adults aged 18 and over. However, it may not be recommended for individuals who:
- Have neuromuscular diseases (e.g., myasthenia gravis or multiple sclerosis).
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Have facial muscle weakness, deep scars, or uneven facial features.
- Have ptosis (drooping eyelids) or skin problems near the injection site.
It is essential to disclose your medical history and medications during your consultation to ensure the treatment is safe and effective for you.
Minimising Side Effects
Common side effects include mild redness, bruising, headache, or eye irritation. To reduce the risk:
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before treatment.
- Avoid blood-thinning medications (e.g., aspirin) a few days prior if advised by your doctor.
- Stay upright and avoid touching the treated area for at least 4 hours post-treatment.
- Serious side effects, such as ptosis (drooping eyelids), are rare and temporary, resolving as the toxin wears off. If you experience any unexpected side effects, consult your practitioner promptly.
